HRV was proud to participate in a New Markets Tax Credit transaction to finance the construction of the new Genesis Center for Counseling and Support in Dallas, Texas. HRV joined Shelter Ministries of Dallas, Capital One and the Texas Mezzanine Fund to combine for this total project investment of $19.3 million, providing increased capacity to assist victimized women, providing additional shelter beds and non-residential support services, including those specifically addressing the trauma experienced by children.
The new center will increase staff levels from 30 currently to 70 full-time positions, increase overall services to clients by 40 percent, dramatically increase the provision of legal assistance and deploy cutting-edge techniques targeting children traumatized by domestic violence. The project includes the planned Genesis Technology Command Center, offering 24/7 access and counseling for domestic violence victims, with enhanced rescue communication between caller and counselor enabled. Contacts from victims throughout the Dallas region will be accepted, communications will be logged and analyzed, and rapid assistance via triaging will forestall untold acts of violence.
Established in 1985, Genesis offers the most comprehensive domestic violence recovery program in Dallas including an Emergency Shelter, a Transitional Housing Facility and a non-residential Outreach Counseling Center. The full continuum of care for women and children who are escaping domestic violence is provided at no cost to the client and is delivered through a trauma-informed response that addresses the personalized needs of each individual.
